Face recognition

Face recognition or facial recognition systems is applications for identifying or verifying persons from a digital image, video frame or video source. This require that you have a large facial database.
A couple of facial recognition algorithms are eigenface, fisherface and the neuronal dynamic link matching. The most modern technology is the three-dimensional face recognition which is seemed to be the most accurate method that is currently available.
Some things that are measured in face recognition are:

  • Distance between the eyes
  • Nose width
  • Depth of the eye sockets
  • The shape of the cheekbones
  • Jaw-line length

Facial recognition was used at Super Bowl Tampa Bay, 2001, to search for criminals and terrorists attending the event. They found 19 people that was pending arrest warrants.
